The players who are most unhappy about the fact that they would WOTLK Gold have to pay $35 per character to "clone" a copy of their character , so that it is playable simultaneously on WoW Classic servers as well as Burning Crusade Classic servers. Current WoW Classic servers will be automatically updated to Burning Crusade Classic on May 18 with the release of the patch.

A fee of no cost (other that the regular annual subscription fee that includes the ability to play WoW Shadowlands, Classic, and Burning Crusade Classic) is needed to play the Burning Crusade, but for players who wish to keep a foot in all three versions they'll have to pay the $35 cost for cloning. In the opinion of many players, as they've pointed out, the entire Shadowlands expansion is only $5 more than the cost of cloning a character, further illustrating the amount of money required.

It's quite a lot of money for a game that players were attracted by its lack of extra paid services or cosmetics. Many players on the game's social media are already expressing their displeasure that Blizzard is taking the same route with Burning Crusade Classic as it has done with Shadowlands along with other recently released expansions.

Each of which supported the ability to buy new mounts, pets and other in-game items as well as services for real cash. As the renowned WoW content creator Asmongold recently admitted in a video that was posted cheap WOTLK Classic Goldshortly after the announcements by Blizzard: "I'm disappointed because I had no idea this would happen...I wasn't expecting them to make a complete 180. I didn't think they would switch from not having microtransactions at any point in the game in the first place, to literally selling you mounts and boosts throughout the game, and all of it in a short time."
