Blizzard entertainment has bought Massachusetts-based games studio Proletariat that will be working in World of Warcraft going forward to satisfy the "voracious appetite" among players for new content. This is happening in the same moment that Blizzard is being bought by Microsoft through the Xbox maker's $75 billion deal to buy Activision Blizzard.

Activision Blizzard confirmed on Friday that its deal to buy Proletariat was concluded and it also provided some additional information. CEO Bobby Kotick said the company plans to hire "hundreds" additional developers over the next 2 years in order to "serve the needs" for the WoW playerbase.

"The extraordinary team at Proletariat will be an essential component of our talent acquisition strategies," Kotick said.

Blizzard President Mike Ybarra offered his own statement, stating that the acquisition of Proletariat will enable them to "meet and exceed" player expectations.

"A vital aspect to taking good care of the players' is caring for our teams and making sure that we have the resources to produce experiences our communities will cherish while also giving our teams space to discover even more innovative possibilities in their projects" Ybarra said.
