Blizzard has announced that it will cancel BlizzCon

"As we watched Beta testers in game and listened to their reactions to WOTLK Classic Gold our modifications and repairs the results confirmed what we already thought going into this test--merely raising mob health and restoring a few removed mechanics did not meet the standards we wanted for a season focused on faster progression and "more challenging" features," Blizzard writes.

For the next test, Blizzard states that it will be making "significant modifications" in Molten Core and Onyxia's Lair, but that the goal should not be making the fights so challenging that experienced or well-prepared raiders will struggle to make progress.

"We aren't planning to alter the combat so as to make them distinct or completely different when compared to the Classic variants." Blizzard writes. "Our intent is to provide something fresh and subtle in conjunction with"the Season of Mastery that feels extremely much in the original spirit of fights."

The release date for WoW Classic Season of Mastery has been set. This announcement about WoW Classic seasons came amidst fallout from multiple lawsuits and investigation into an alleged long period of sexual harassment and discrimination at Activision Blizzard. Next year's BlizzCon event, where major announcements for the games developed by the studio typically occur has been canceled. Blizzard says it will be taking the extra time to redesign the convention's future but the announcements of forthcoming games and updates will still be coming in the months ahead.

Blizzard has announced that it will cancel BlizzCon 2022 to create a new Future Of The Event

BlizzCon 2022 that was scheduled to be held in February and would be mostly a virtual affair with small-scale, in-person gatherings has been pulled. This decision has been made amid ongoing lawsuits and investigations that allege massive sexual harassment and discrimination at Activision Blizzard.

Blizzard says that the energy usually devoted to putting on the annual event will instead focus on "supporting our teams and advancing the improvement of our games and experiences." Without BlizzCon this cheap WOTLK Classic Gold year, Blizzard will also take the opportunity to "reimagine" what the event might look like.
