Blizzard has revealed more about its approach to open-world design for the forthcoming action RPG Diablo IV Gold.
Diablo 4(opens in new tab) will have an open-world, but Blizzard hasn't been clear about what exactly that means. In a new interview on IGN(opens in new tab) Game director Joe Shely and Diablo general manager Rod Fergusson went a bit more in depth about what players can expect when returning to the Sanctuary. "One of the main concerns with putting 'open world' in an enormous neon sign and flashing it is that people get this idea about"the Breath of Wild type of'Oh, it's entirely natural and I can be anywhere and accomplish anything and, eventually, come up with a solution for myself'," Fergusson said. "That's not our reality. Our story is non-linear however, there's a story. We wanted to have a beginning, middle, and end. We wanted to start at a particular place, we would like to end at a certain place."
Diablo 4 is "more of an adventure that branches," he said, and players can choose the sequence of the main parts of the game, and afterwards play them in a different order in a replay, to get a different sort of experience as a result. There will also be many opportunities to get involved in other activities and forget about the main mission when you'd like.

"That's the nice thing about the open world, there's lots of side-quests, there's a lot of things in the world that you can do which aren't listed on the"golden path"" Fergusson said. "And the fact that the golden pathway is actually a branching pathway that is your choice as to when you want to do these branches and in what order buy Diablo 4 Gold."
